Glass, Glaze, and Enamel Over the Millennia. II. Glazes and Enamels
The glazing technique was applied for the lining of building products. For example, the door to the burial chamber in Pharaoh Djoser's Step Pyramid (15 th century ) was decorated with faience tiles covered with a bluegreen glaze produced, in all likelihood, in a dedicated workshop. Glazed lining was in wide use in Mesopotamia to decorate palaces and houses of worship.
