The way i make most of my gold is farming rubedite and vile mansion. Farm vile mansion just farming for an hour i get about 15k then i go farm rubedite ore i refine it any temps i may get from it i sell them and then sell the ingots in the guild store.

Of all the places to farm rubedite in the game, Old Orsinium would not be in the top half of places I would pick. Hides I can definitely see with all the harpies and bears in the first part of the dungeon ... not sure if the OP is trying to steer the conversation away from this farming spot by injecting rubedite into the reply posts.
I have refined thousands upon thousands of various ore, but the larger batches have mainly been either rubedite or iron. I have done it in a batch of about 15,000 all at once as well as just 4,000 or 2,000 or even just 400 and my long term rate is about 5 tempers for every 1000 refined which is the .5% that Mallagar states.
But then I decided to push my luck and I decimated the Malabal Tor animal populace to near extinction. Three hours of grinding and no lead. Next day I wanted to continue to grind, only to get the lead at the first!!!! mob group I encountered (3 senches next to the wayshrine). For the remaining leads it was the same story.

Dreugh Wax sells for 3,000+ gold per Wax and you need 8 to improve a piece of gear; that's 24,000+ gold to improve one piece of gear. Still, even though it's expensive, I agree that buying it is the best way. Refining raw materials and relying on chance won't net you a lot of Wax unless you refine stacks and stacks.

Another thing you could do is save up every single rubedo leather armor piece you have to deconstruct it, although each one equals a single leather so you'll need to save up quite a lot.
