I thought I would try it out as a ball mill, so I cast up a large batch of .575" (58 cal) hard round lead balls. The trouble is that 30 pounds of lead balls only fills it to about 1/3 full. I know that it is desirable to have the mill 1/2 full of media. Will I get acceptable efficiency with only 1/3 of the mill full of media?

you realy need a ball mill, its cuts down time and cost, a harbor freight rocktumber/ballmill can be bought for 2040, As apposed to a coffee grinder thats about 10 per grinder. also some compositions must be ball milled. The Harbor Freight Tumbler says 3 Lbs capacity but the size is " x ".
